厳しくも豊穣な響きを持つ作品を多く遺し、近年ますます評価の高まる孤高の作曲家・松平頼則（まつだいらよりつね）のピアノ作品集。自身ピアニストでもあった松平がフランス近代からストラヴィンスキー、メシアンまで西洋のあらゆるモダニズムの影響下に独自の音楽を追求した作曲した20代から40代はじめにかけての重要作品に加え、雅楽の旋律線とトータル・クロマティックの融合を実現した1975年の「6つの前奏曲　主題と変奏の形式による」を収録。

演奏は、松平と同じく作曲家・ピアニストとして活躍し、晩年の松平から作品を託された野平一郎。日本の音楽界を牽引する才能が、世界から注目される作曲家の真価を明らかにする。

野平一郎
　1953年、東京生まれ。作曲、ピアノ、指揮、プロデュース、教育などの多方面にわたる活動を行う。
　東京芸術大学を経て、1978年、フランス政府給費留学生としてパリ国立高等音楽院に学ぶ。この間作曲を間宮芳生、永冨正之、ベッツイー・ジョラス、セルジュ・ニッグ、ピアノ及びピアノ伴奏法を村井貞子、堀江孝子、高良芳枝、アンリエット・ピュイグ=ロジェ、ジャン・ケルネルの各氏に師事。卒業後は、ダルムシュタット、シエナ、エクサン・プロヴァンスの各講習会でリゲティ、ファーニホゥ、ドナトーニと、またイティネレールやIRCAMに於いて、電子音響音楽やコンピュータ音楽を学ぶ。
　80曲以上に及ぶ作品の中には、フランス文化庁、アンサンブル・アンテルコンタンポラン、IRCAM、ベルリン・ドイツ交響楽団、国立劇場その他からの委嘱作品がある。ピアニストとしては、1982年から1990年まで、アンサンブル・イティネレールのピアノ奏者をつとめた。ソリストとしてもこれまで、フランス国営放送フィルハーモニック（現フランス国立フィルハーモニー管弦楽団）、バーゼル放送交響楽団、アンサンブル・アンテルコンタンポラン、ロンドン・シンフォニエッタをはじめとする内外のオーケストラと共演。ミシェル・デボスト、ジェラール・プーレ、ライナー・ホーネック、ヴェンツェル・フックス、ディートリッヒ・ヘンシェル、今井信子ほか国内外の名手と数多く共演し、室内楽奏者としても活躍。古典から現代までの幅広いレパートリーを得意としている。フィリップ・マヌリの「プルトン」、「東京のパッサカリア」、ジョージ・ベンジャミン「アンタラ」、間宮芳生「ピアノ協奏曲第4番」をはじめとする多くの日本の作品を世界初演、またジョルジュ・リゲティ「ピアノ協奏曲」をはじめ、トリスタン・ミュライユ、フィリップ・マヌリ、マルコ・ストロッパ、ジョージ・ベンジャミンほかの多くのピアノ作品を日本初演する。東京シンフォニエッタの初代代表を務め、またさいたま芸術劇場のオリジナル・アンサンブルThe Waysのメンバーを務めた。なお、現在までに90枚以上のCDをナミ・レコード、ミュージック・スケープなどからリリースし、その中には武満徹、湯浅譲二の全ピアノ作品集や、ベートーヴェンやモーツァルトのピアノ・ソナタ全集、ピアノ・チェンバロ・オルガンを使ったバッハの平均律クラヴィーア曲集などがある。サントリー音楽賞(2004)、芸術選奨文部大臣新人賞、および文部大臣賞(1996,2005) 、2度の尾高賞（1996,2013）など数々の賞を受賞。また2012年には紫綬褒章を受章する。現在東京藝術大学教授、静岡音楽館AOI芸術監督。

Ichiro Nodaira
Born in 1953 in Tokyo, Japan, Ichiro Nodaira is a composer, concert pianist, conductor, producer, and educator who has garnered highest acclaims for his multi-faceted musical activities.
After studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, Mr. Nodaira went to Paris in 1978 where he was the recipient of a scholarship from the French government to study at Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris. In the duration of these educational years, he studied composition with Michio Mamiya, Masayuki Nagatomi, Besty Jolas, and Serge Nigg, piano and accompaniment with Sadako Murai, Takako Horie, Yoshie Kora, Henriette Puig-Roget, and Jean Koerner. After graduating, he has had extensive studies with Gyorgy Ligeti, Brian Ferneyhough, and Franco Donatoni in lecture classes in Darmstadt, Sienna, and Aix-en-Provence respectively. He also acquired knowledge of electro-acoustic and computer music while with Ensemble de l’itineraire and IRCAM.
As a pianist, he was a member of Ensemble de l’itineraire from 1982 to 1990. He has also performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras in and outside of Japan including Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, Radio Sinfonieorchester Basel, Ensemble Intercontemporain, and London Sinfonietta. He has been active as a chamber musician, making appearances with such distinguished artists as Michel Debost, Gerard Poulet, Rainer Honeck, Wenzel Fuchs, Dietrich Henschel, and Nobuko Imai. Mr. Nodaira has a wide range of repertoire extending from classical to contemporary. He has given world-premieres of works such as Philippe Manoury’s “Pluton” and “Passacaglia for Tokyo”, and George Benjamin’s “Antara”. He has also given premieres of many works by Japanese composers such as Michio Mamiya’s “Piano Concerto No. 4”. Mr. Nodaira has been actively involved in the performance of other contemporary works, giving the Japanese premiere of Gyorgy Ligeti’s “Piano Concerto” and works of numerous composers including Tristan Murail, Philippe Manoury, Marco Stroppa, and George Benjamin. He served as the first director of Tokyo Sinfonietta and he was a member of Ensemble “The Ways” founded at Saitama Arts Theater.
Mr. Nodaira has released over 90 CDs from such labels as Nami Records and Music Scape, which repertoire includes works of Toru Takemitsu, complete piano works of Joji Yuasa, complete piano sonatas of Beethoven, and the Well-Tempered Clavier of J. S. Bach using piano, harpsichord, and organ. He has received many prizes: Education Minister’s Art Encouragement Prize for Freshmen (1996), Suntory Musical Award (2004), Art Encouragement Prize (2005), Otaka Award (1996, 2013). In 2012, he was awarded Shiju hosho (the Medal with Purple Ribbon). He is professor at the Tokyo University of the Arts and the artistic director of Concert Hall Shizuoka.
